Fungal issues
Fungal diseases in plant are very diverse and affecting all parts of the plant, that is,
- crown (e.g., common root rot, crown rot, sclerotium wilt)
- stem or sheath (e.g., eyespot, stem rust),
- leaves (e.g., leaf blight, rust, powdery mildew),
- spikes (e.g., ergot), and
- seeds (e.g., black point, carnal bunt).
They can be easily managed if realized earlier.
The below are some examples to identify and understand.
In the case of the greens with spots that you see in the picture.
It is fungal lesions and it is common due to high humidity and heat.
Antifungal treatment (pseudomonas florance or Trichoderma viridi can help once rains settle down)
Leaves can be cooked. If worried, can pinch off the affected spots and cook.
in the case of the lime plant with spots seen in the picture.
Those are fungal lesions.
Trichoderma viridi soil drench and after 15 days spray Pseudomonas Fluorescence.
In the case of the greens where some of the greens look dead and in patches..
Greens affected by fungal infection in the soil.
Greens germinate well but fall off in patches. It might look like some bird or animal was sitting on it.
This is damping of infection, a fungal attack.
Treatment is loosen the soil deeply to crack surface. This will cut fungal growth. spraying 2% Trichoderma solution.
That means one can dilute 20 gm of the Trichoderma powder in one ltr of water and pour in the soil and on the leaves after 5 pm in the evening and then after 15 days Pseudomonas .Repeat for 3 months atleast…
