Leaf Miner

This is a mysterious leaf artist – Leaf miner -whom most of us never saw and were wondering what this might be.I removed the two layers of an affected leaf and out came the tiny yellow creeping little worm..See these and know the foe!

The actual magic insect who initiates this drawing ( picture from internet) is seen in the picture.The larva with a piece of leaf it was hiding and eating from inside..

These firm a cocoon and then hatch off and fly as adult insect!!This is from my terrace Garden.

How can we manage it ?

If the infestation is not very high, the plant will not suffer much.One or two tunnels on some leaves is not going to kill the plant.

If too much is there, remove and destroy the leaves. For one or two, you can squeeze the larva inside by pressing hard at the advancing end of the tunnel between your fingers and save the plant.
